So we’ve all been there — okay maybe not so similar, but to drive from Pahang to KL in car filled with durian was a trauma to the brain!
This incident happended on September 17, 2019. The Canadian pilot had to put on his oxygen mask and the flight crews tried to getting rid of the smell, but failed.
The plane was forced to descend and declared “PAN-PAN”; which is the international standard urgency signal, but for the time being, does not pose an immediate danger to anyone’s life or to the vessel itself.
245 passengers were in that flight and been forced to return to Vancouver 37 minutes after departure.
So what happened to the durian? — The durians were then offloaded and the aircraft returned to service 20 hours after the original departure time.
We still have yet to know what happened to the durian until today. But we’re thankful that everyone’s had a safe journey though!
