Tickets for the two-days concert were sold out within 36-hours. And naturally some fans would go to the ticket scalpers in hoping to get their hands on the tickets.
Unfortunately one of the fans lost RM150,000 after he thought that he was buying 715 Westlife’s concert tickets – but why does he need so many?
A jobless man, S. Kelvin Raj, 23, charged for 45 counts of cheating, and deceiving a salesperson, Sim Ting Ting, into believing that all the tickets sold were real. But he pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out to him.
His action allegedly induced the victim to bank in RM151, 956 into a Hong Leong Bank account, belonging to the accused in several transactions between March 23 and May 25.
The accused was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code and faced a maximum 10 years in jail and could be fined, if convicted.
In a nutshell, no matter how desperate we want to see our favourite charming Irish boys – or now uncles? Be mindful and take extra precautions whenever you want to purchase any tickets. Especially if you’re thinking of approaching any scalpers or resellers.
